ABOUT YOUR HOSTS
Ellen Whiteside: A wanderer from the start
Ellen, a native South Carolinian, was born with an adventurous spirit. After graduating from Clemson University and working for a year in Washington, D.C., she followed her heart and traveled throughout Europe. Smitten with the idyllic lifestyle there, she searched for the most European city in the US upon her return. Ellen contentedly called Portland, Oregon home for 22 years, working as a licensed massage therapist. Needing more blue sky in her life, she returned to the south in 2003 where a serendipitous meeting united her with true love, Tim Beebe. Since May 2006, they have owned the Bed and Bike Inn, (often referred to as a small slice of heaven), in Gold Hill, NC. The dynamic couple also runs Uwharrie Tours, a personalized tour business for wine tours, unique shopping excursions and moonlight kayak adventures.
Tim Beebe : He’ll keep you in stitches
Born in Sloan, Iowa, Tim became a transplanted southerner, residing in rural Bethune, South Carolina, for many years. (Think one stoplight, a Piggly Wiggly and a liquor store and you get the picture.) Raised on a large poultry and cattle farm, he acquired the skills to fix just about anything – a must for an innkeeper. Tim’s latest jack-of-all-trades project was the addition of a luxurious bathroom - complete with a romantic, inviting Jacuzzi tub - onto a rustic cabin. Comical, warm and gregarious, he is an adventure in and of himself.
